Dermo-cosmetic technique that involves the application of one or more chemical exfoliants to the skin for a period sufficient to interact with different cutaneous layers favoring cellular renewal. Based on depth penetration are classified in:very superficial, superficial, medium or deep. The chemical agents most commonly used in chemical peels are: glycolic acid, mandelic acid, pyruvic acid, salicylic acid, trichloroacetic acid, phenol and resorcinol. The main indications for treatment with chemical peels are: skin aging, discoloration, active or scar acne or scar, acne rosacea and hyperseborrhoea.
